Cat Goes Fishing

For TAXPAYER MONEY!!!

With the economy in crisis, unemployment skyrocketing,

and hard-pressed Americans bailing out failing corporations,

what does Caterpillar management do?  Like a thief in the

night, they head to Arkansas and Texas fishing for cash so

they can outsource our jobs.

Caught from Arkansas taxpayers:

$        16 million for infrastructure

$        Cash rebates

$        Refunded sales tax

$        Reduced electrical rates

Caught from Texas taxpayers:

$        21 million for infrastructure

$        5,000 rebate per job up to 2.5 million

$        Tax exemptions

Meanwhile We’re Thrown Overboard!

Almost 2,000 hard working Cat UAW members in Illinois are being laid off. In addition, a one billion dollar expansion of the Illinois facilities promised in June 2008 has been postponed indefinitely.  In short, none of our jobs are safe!

It’s The Big Fish Who Need To Be Fried!

All UAW members have already sacrificed!  Before the last contract, Caterpillar told us that they would continue to outsource work, as they had been doing in the previous six years, “if we did not get competitive in our labor cost.”  So UAW members stepped up and agreed to a contract that makes us competitive worldwide.  But Caterpillar management lied.  Like AIG and many other corporations today, Caterpillar is taking advantage of the economic crisis to milk taxpayers while they punish their own workforce. Tell the boss…

Bring The Work Back NOW!

Tell your supervisor that UAW Caterpillar workers and American tax payers have had enough.  We stand in support of our UAW Bargaining Committee’s effort to make Cat management keep their word and bring back our jobs.
